Gender, Intersectionality and Menstrual Health – Wild Womb Training

As part of the Wild Womb training, coordinated by Symbiotic Roots, Europamente ran on October 11th a workshop on gender and intersectionality, looking at how social identities, norms, and power relations shape menstrual health experiences around the world.

The training covered four main areas:

  1. Understanding Intersectionality – key concepts and how intersecting identities influence gender and menstrual health.
  2. Intersectionality and Global Frameworks – international policies and standards on gender, health, and bodily autonomy.
  3. Intersecting Identities and Menstrual Experiences – how social, cultural, and economic factors create diverse menstrual realities.
  4. Intersectionality in Policy and Advocacy – strategies to bring intersectional thinking into menstrual health programs and advocacy.

Participants took part in open discussions and group activities, sharing experiences, reflecting on challenges, and developing ideas for more inclusive approaches to menstrual health.

The session offered a practical, participatory look at menstrual health through an intersectional lens, showing how understanding multiple identities is key to better education, policy, and advocacy.
