Resilience in Activism

We have opened the call to select two participants from Italy for “Resilience in Activism: Self‑Care & Active Hope”, an international Erasmus+ training course coordinated by Symbiotic Roots, with Europamente ETS as project partner.

The training will take place from 13 to 19 September 2026 in Catalonia, Spain, at La Cremallera, an artistic creation and residency space located in Ribes de Freser, in the Pyrenees. The residential experience will be supported by two online meetings taking place before the training, helping participants connect and prepare in advance.

The activity is co‑funded by the Erasmus+ Programme and covers accommodation, food, training activities and travel costs within Erasmus+ limits. Green travel options are strongly encouraged. A contribution of 70–100 euros is requested to support the sustainability of the hosting organisation, but financial constraints should not prevent anyone from applying.

Resilience in Activism: Self‑Care & Active Hope is designed for youth workers, educators and activists who are engaged in social and environmental change and want to explore more sustainable, caring and resilient ways of working. The training responds to a shared challenge across activism and youth work: dealing with emotional fatigue, pressure and constant urgency, while trying to remain engaged and effective over time.

Through embodiment, somatic practices, expressive arts and non‑formal education methods, participants will explore tools for self‑care and collective care, reflect on wellbeing in activism, and exchange experiences with peers from different European contexts. Inspired by The Work That Reconnects by Joanna Macy, the learning process is experiential and reflective, focusing on resilience as a collective practice rather than an individual responsibility.

The training is open to participants aged 25–40 who are already active in youth work, education, activism or community‑based initiatives and are motivated to engage in a shared learning journey grounded in care, connection and active hope.
