Where & when
Resilience in Activism: Self‑Care & Active Hope is an international Erasmus+ training course coordinated by Symbiotic Roots and designed for youth workers, educators and activists who are committed to social and eco‑social change and want to make this commitment more sustainable over time.
Working for change often means dealing with emotional overload, urgency and constant pressure. This training was created as a response to that reality: a space to pause, reflect and reconnect, while gaining practical tools to support personal and collective wellbeing in activism and youth work.
The training combines embodiment, somatic practices and expressive arts with reflections inspired by The Work That Reconnects by Joanna Macy. Learning happens through experience rather than theory, using the body, creativity and dialogue to explore resilience, care and active hope. Participants are invited to look not only at what they do, but also at how they stay present, motivated and connected in the long run.
Throughout the programme, participants will exchange experiences from different European contexts, explore self‑care and collective care practices, and reflect on how these approaches can be integrated into everyday work with young people and communities. The focus is not on doing more, but on doing things in a way that is more attentive, grounded and sustainable.
The training is open to 12 participants aged 25–40 from Italy, Greece, Romania, Turkey, France and Spain, who are already active in youth work, education, activism or community‑based initiatives. Motivation, openness to self‑reflection and willingness to engage in a collective process are more important than previous experience with specific methods.
